Our inimitable Dance Guru Ian Cox will once gain be co-ordinating the Dance sides for the 2018 Folk Festival. Ian has extensive skills not only as a Dancer in two Morris sides but in bringing together sides of similar ilk and creating a brilliant programme. Those who came and participated at the 2017 Festival will know how much we appreciate them and that we have an emphasis on enjoying the occasion. With 20 + sides participating it was a brilliantly colourful and energetic event in the true festival fashion. Indeed most sides have already asked to return for 2018 ! We welcome any side wishing to participate in the 2018 Bridport Folk Festival and request they make themselves known to Ian via e.mail on firstname.lastname@example.org
Strict and Social Dance
No Folk Festival can be complete without the all embracing element of dance particularly those that engage the Public and inspire them to participate, experience and learn a variety of dance steps. Local Dance Organiser Monty Crook ( Bridport Ceilidhs ) took up the challenge and indeed it was a challenge to coordinate a programme offering eleven different dance workshops plus four social dances Square and Barn Dance and Ceilidhs. One of the latter was a street Ceilidh held in the Town Centre where Festival-goers danced to the finale with music from the festival Ceilidh band ‘No Strings Attached’.
2018 will be offering this blend of dance again so book your places early . Details in due course.
If you have talents, skills, trades or just want to come and make a worthwhile contribution and help make this exciting festival better, then please do join our team of lively spirited volunteers and helpers. If you can spare just a small bit of time over the festival then we would love to hear from you!
